Lottie progress

It was a busy day at the allotment yesterday. The hedges needed to be cut as they have got rather tall over the years. (before we aquired the plot).
Allotment regs say they must only be 5 feet high. Cutting is a tedious process because we only have a battery powered hedge trimmer and some loppers. So it is going to take a while.

I watered the produce and then thinned out some lettuce. Everything is coming along nicely. The runner beans have flowers
The potatoes should be ready soon
There are peas
and raspberries.
                                         It was a warm day
so froggie was out to play. You can see there is rather a lot of gunk on the pond so we have treated him to a solar powered aerator
Gardener Bunny is very impressed.

Tree

This is the tree that stood in front of our row of houses. It was always there . Marked the seasons.

Last Wednesday two men and a petrol driven saw did this. When challenged they said they were from the council.  When the petrol ran out they left.

On Friday the real councilworkers came

This is all that is left.

I knew it could not be saved but words cannot describe how angry and upset I am.

Four seasons

Way back in 2003 I did an online class with  Julie McCullough of Magic Threads. This was one of the  best things I ever did because over the last eleven years I have improved my skills and produced four Mother Nature dolls. When I made the first one  I had limited resources to  hand
but I was pleased with how she turned out.  In  2008 I made the second, Winter  and patiently sewed on  loads of beads
and it took quite a while!
The third one Spring was completed in 2011
and the final one of the series Summmer I have just finished.
The long gaps between the first ones reflect how little time I had for long stints and  making large projects.

The photography session is one of the only times they will be together for a chat. One, depending on the season, will always be on display in the front room and the others are upstairs. In a couple of years I might make a Christmas version.
