More holiday places

Monday saw us in Ulverston where a very helpful bus driver told us the best place to walk along the shore

We also visited the Conishead Priory and walked in the grounds
It is a very peaceful place
and has a Buddhist Temple.

The following day we visited Hawes

more beautiful countryside

a drystone wall repairer

and a beautiful waterfall.

There was nearly a disaster afterwards. I left my new camera in the Ladies' loos. Luckily it was handed in and the ice cream shop while we were choosing our flavours!

Holidays1

It's that time of year again. We spent a few days in Gatehouse of Fleet. The weather was not as kind as the previous couple of years.
We had quite a lot of rain. We had intended split our whole day between some coastal walking and then visit Wigtown but decided the walking might not be a good idea. So had a short visit to Wigtown and this walk. When we arrived back in Gatehouse we donned our wet weather gear and walked in the forest we saw a red squirrel racing down the path to find shelter As you can see there are not many photographs! My camera decided to give up the ghost. it was very strange because it would take movies but not pictures. The picture above was taken on John's camera.

New

Biddle has his new jumper
It is very similar in colour to another one. But this one has a trim around the collar.

We finally have some potatoes
and a couple of beans
everything is late this year. I have been pottering around spending too much time watching the Olympics. It has been worth it though.

Saturday 4 August 2012

It's that time of year

when the caterpillars arrive. They are cinnabar moth and we have them every year. Although I have never seen such small ones. I rescued one from the washing and when i put him back on the plant found loads
They really  seem to like this one plant which is really a weed. I shall look forward to seeing them grow bigger.

The buddleia flowers are finally out
too many plants this year have been all greenery and no flowers, probable due to the amount of rain we had  in the early summer. All we need now are some butterflies.

I have finished a little pullover my my daughter's nephew
I have spent far too long watching the Olympics but I knit as I watch so I don't feel too guilty and Biddle should soon have a new jumper to add to his collection.
