growing

Although Spring began late this year everything is finally beginning to grow. The trees in our street should be in full leaf soon. There was one bonus standing at the bus stop on Monday John and I could here squawking and in the fork of two branches in the tree opposite we could just see the heads of baby birds being fed by their parent. Could not identify the kind of bird though and it flew off too quickly for us to get a good look.

The sun brought these into flower...

...not sure what they are called but they look similar to a daffodil. In the grow bag we have radish and cut and come again salad leaves. The leaves did very well last year. There are three compartments but I did not photograph the bare patch in the third. However this afternoon I did notice a hint of green shoots coming through, so things change very quickly.

In the mini green house there are various small plants including tomatoes.

We have far too many!
I am hoping the weather is favourable at the weekend so we can plant out the sweet peas

Grace's cardi is also growing but not I fear as fast as she would like

I do not seem to have had much time. I have had an enjoyable time back at the school I was working at before Easter. I just love working with individual children.
I have not had much time to sew this last week.
My broken tooth has been repaired, the back is almost better except for the odd ache now and again.

backs, birds, bunny, fish

I hurt my back! Without doing anything much really. I have hurt it many times before and ten years or so ago spent months in excruciating pain and misery. So I am usually really careful. All I did was spend twenty minutes or so on the phone but managed to twist into a position that seemed ok until a bit later when I felt the dreaded twinge. It has gradually eased over the week with the help of the TENS machine and deep heat. I did not fancy a trip to the doctors as I had made a rare visit that very morning for advice on my numb fingers and toes. As I already knew it was Reynaud's but its been much worse lately. So I have tablets to take to see how it goes. I am not a fan of medication.

So the delicate back meant taking it easy over the next few days and missing the classical concert on Friday night because the seats we had for the season are somewhat cramped and don't do backs any favours at the best of times. I did go and get my hair cut though and now look a bit more civilised. ( not enough to upload a photo though).
Our new blackbird spent some time in the garden feeding

look who was watching too. It's been a bit quiet bird wise lately. I imagine that that they are beginning to nest.

The jumper is finished and Mercedes is happy to be the proud owner

This is next on the agenda

and there is only one bear it could possibly be for!

The fish hanging now has a border and needs some backing fabric

and I have taken the Easter hanging down to finish the embellishment.

thanks for popping by

It's warmed up a bit

Yesterday the weather went mad and our thermometer registered a surprising 21C! What a difference from a few days ago. The buds are bursting

and it looks as though spring really is here now. The winter pansies have finally blossomed

This little chap spent ages sitting in the sun on Friday afternoon He is sitting on a brick at the base of the weather station. We have not had many birds recently but this seems normal for April it was the same same year. I think they are busy building homes.

We have spent time watching Ospreys
via the web which is quite exciting and owls
although the owls are in California so you have to time it right, evening in UK is best or through the night if you are an insomniac.

The sewing is going slowly I cheated and hung the Easter hanging incomplete, so I now have to embellish ready for next year.

The fish are being stitched around at the moment

and jumper number four needs sleeves.

The cross stitch is looking more like an owl but its very slow going so no more pictures yet.

I have not mentioned the allotment for a while. Everything got held up by the cold winter but John is back down there now getting ready for some planting.

Thanks for dropping by; leave a message so I know you came.

Easter...

...so far its cold and damp so here is a little cheer

Grace has an Easter Bonnet

And I have been making a hanging which may or may not hang this Easter

and some fish. The background fabric suggested sea.

Having no ideas for weeks I came up with two. I have a new jumper on the go. It is for a bunny.

That's it really
