Blogging

Sometimes I wonder why I blog. Its a bit presumptuous to think that others would want to read about my unimportant events. I think I do it to have a record for me of what I have been up to and what I have created. I could write that in a private diary so maybe I am just taking advantage of the modern age and "doing it online". I think its important that events are recorded it allows us a window into the lives of others that went before us, so am I writing historical events for the future? Not intentionally but it would be great to think that some time in the future someone might read what was happening to ordinary people in early 21st century Britain. I read other blogs, my rss feed has been clogged with blogs, mainly creative ones, some political/sociological and others. Some I skim through, others I seek out to see if there is a new post. I find interesting pieces of information, insights into people's lives, progress in their creativity. In some cases I worry about how they are and what they are doing. I worry that blog reading has become a form of entertainment. I probably spend more time on the mac than I do watching television now. I do know that when I should be creating I find I am clicking instead.

So what I have been up too in the past week. Half term was short. The jumper is nearly finished. I have a back, front and one and a half sleeves. Blame Tia that it is not finished. She thinks she should sit on me instead. The cross stitch is looking more like a bird than a group of stitches.
We have yet more snow, woke up to a surprise load on Sunday morning which I did not expect, then some more on Tuesday which was. I will not post a snowy picture, they are similar to those that came before. Instead a snow related one, I received this yesterday

He came all the way from the Netherlands and my owl will fly there when he is finished.

I saw this little chap this morning, he has been around quite a bit recently and sits in the garden for long periods of time. Today however he was munching away on a fat juicy worm.

My Valentine dangly is dangling

I love it.

I think I have had enough snow now and look forward to Spring

thanks for popping by and if you leave a comment.

It's Half term...

... but only a short one for me! It has been lovely having three whole days at home plus the week ends. But I do not think I have accomplished as much as I would like to have done. I still have not found something exciting to sew. But I have done well with the jumper.

I am not sure who will be the proud owner. Grace is not in the running however. I have also stitched quite a bit of my last swap square.

I had not realised that it was the last one until checked the data base. It will be good to get them out of the way. Then I have the great pleasure of making the ones I have received into a wall hanging. I say that some what facetiously because I still have not done anything with the ones I had from the last swap. I shall make the effort though. Maybe that will be my big sewing project for the year.

It has continued to snow on and off through this month it comes and goes. Here is the yesterday's contribution.

and here is today's

We have had several pots which have been damaged by frost

so they will need replacing.

John went to the allotment at the weekend and on Sunday afternoon planted some seeds for the greenhouse. At some point he hurt his neck and this will curtail allotment visits for a while. I expect the weather will be dry and gloriously sunny just for spite.

We had Chinese take away on Sunday in celebration of Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day. I had a lovely new dangly for up here. Photos soon, it's not dangling yet.

Thanks for stopping by.

Not much happening this week

The weather continues to be cold and damp or cold and frosty depending on the day.
I found a lonely snowdrop in a pot. I planted at least 50 so where are the rest?

Bad cat has a rival for badness. My friend's cat has been using our tiny little bit of garden as his personal toilet, then climbed into the bird's bush. he saw me taking his photo so came to the window for a close up picture.

He is a very friendly little chap and is called Felix. During his young life he has got into all sorts of scrapes and has had more than his fair share of visits to the vet.

There has been no allotment work due to the more weather but John has spent some time putting up the new mini greenhouse.

I have finally had the wherewith-all to sort out some yarn. I have been sent a bear jumper pattern with raglan sleeves ( thank you) and I am going to make one in each size to see which bears they might fit.

I am hoping that next week I will be able to get back into sewing something. Its half term and I have three free days. Half term has been cut short for me as one school is going back on Thursday. The work I am doing is really enjoyable and I will sad when it finishes at Easter.

Thanks if you visit

It went .... and came back ...

The snow that is. Just as we got used to green grass and mucky pavements back came the snow. A little dusting on Monday night

but enough for John to make pretty patterns taking the two bins around to the front of the house.

It was still around in the morning but gradually disappeared during the day where it caught the sun. Then just as I got off the bus last night a few flakes began to fall and with in a little while everywhere was covered. And we ended up with this

Its still around this morning and we have fog to contend with as well. But that has not deterred the birds a a new male blackbird appeared this morning. He must be one of the babies from last year as his beak is not bright orange yet. I need a better camera really for good bird pictures but you get they idea.

The jazzy jumper was a great success and I can now post pictures

I used Biddle's jumper pattern and made it shorter. Then made a twisted thread belt and put yarn though the arms. I did not make sleeves but just picked up stitches around the arm holes.

I am pleased with the result and if Iggy's smile is to be believed so is she.

We did the RSPB bird survey at the week end. Had at least 18 sparrows with in the time so that was good. And the two collared doves some starlings a blue tit and a black bird. For our little yard that was good.

I have got a cold courtesy of my Saturday tutee. It started a couple of days ago with a sore throat and now I am sniffling but don't feel too bad.

Biddle has just eaten my chocolate biscuit!
