no time to blog!!!!

Goodness what a week. I knew that I was going to work Monday pm and all day Tuesday. But I ended up doing three days at one school so worked all week. The three days involved planning all the work as the teacher was off sick. I am out of the habit of getting up at six am to be out on the 7 20 bus.

By the end I was so tired but already feel much better. I actually enjoyed all five days and the children were not too bad.

Last week end I finally got my act together and got the challenge doll sorted and started a new wall hanging well found some fabric and cut some shapes. I was all set to crack on in the week but work intervened. Still the bank balance will look a bit more healthy next weekend.

Last weekend was a good time for birds and John took several pictures with my camera

One evening there was the most beautiful sunset

I love clouds so this was a special treat.

A day out

It's half term this week. Although this hasn't made all that much difference to me. Except I am having a week with out waking up with the dreaded pain in the tum. I have got into a bit of a rut. I rarely go out unless I have to and so this is a bit of a habit now.

John had a day off on Wednesday so we decided to pack our rucksacks and head off into the countryside. We caught a train to Mytholmroyd and walked through the Nature reserve

it was a reasonably easy walk , although some parts were quite boggy due the recent snow and rain.
We could here birds all around us but didn't spot any. There was evidence of deer too. The trees were all in winter mode and no hint of new leaf buds yet. When we climbed from the reserve on to the moor you could appreciate how pretty winter trees can be.

Biddle as usual found an easier way than climbing the style

More photos can be found here
of the day.

I have done some creating a Valentine's day page for my book

Talking of Valentine's Day John bought me a very cute Tusker elephant holding a heart balloon.

I still haven't got to grips with anything much textile wise. I know why. I committed myself to a doll challenge knowing full well that my feeble attempt at design would not compete with the others and no I am stuck. I have the legs, arms, and body, but just can't get the head to go right, i have got to go back through the books to find out exactly what she will wear and unless the rest of the group have read the Deverry series no one will know who the heck she is LOL. If I give up I will let the group organiser down but I can't seem to move on. I can't use work as an excuse for being too busy though I have got some work next week. Guess I should just get on with it.

we still have snow

but its is gradually going.

This was taken on Monday when our cleared path was covered up again. But now that has gone and we have more flag stones than snow.

Our discovered this little flower all snuggled down. i think its a winter cyclamen that I planted several years ago.

I have had a busy non creative week. Monday was my usual trip to sign on. Then On Tuesday I finally got to visit the special school that had cancelled twice due to the snow. It was a really interesting visit and I was invited back on Wednesday to work as a support, which made a change from doing the actually teaching although did teach the first lesson. Designing wrapping paper using repeating patterns to a class of seven boys with varying degrees of behaviour problems. The school is for children who cannot manage in mainstream school because of their behaviour. It was a good day but I don't know if it will lead on to anymore work. This morning I went to a school the other side of the city and taught year 6 numeracy and year 3 PE. Just a morning's work but better than nothing.

The snow may be going but it has been incredibly icy and has turned much colder. I can hear the wind whistling through the window.

Next week is half-term so I am hoping that something will turn up before Easter. I realised yesterday and then again today that I quite like going to work and the pupils I met on Wednesday although challenging were great to work with.

SNOW

We have snow. More snow than we have had for years. Our last big load was in January 1995 our second winter up here. Ever since then we have had sprinkles and not much more. There is about 6cm now in the garden at the moment and I had to clear a little space so that the birds could have some food.

Biddle insisted on going out and sampling but soon hurried back inside

Both backbirds visited along with the two doves and sparrows. I have put some food under the planter so that its a bit more sheltered.

Here, the buses have been running on time. The main roads are clear and there is none of the chaos the south is experiencing. More is predicted for tonight so this could all change. Normally I would be quite happy but I should be going to visit a special school for children who find it difficult to behave at school. But it was closed today and is going to be tomorrow. So I am disappointed. I would really like a job working with these type of children. There are two jobs and three candidates. Fingers crossed when they re schedule. It looks like all schools here will be shut due to the predicted weather.

I have only one make to show this week. Bailey has a new jumper

Bailey is a special bear and I have had him over twenty years. Originally you could turn him inside out and make him into a red present. But when he began to look old and grubby I washed him, re fashioned him into a normal bear and he is much happier now.
I am expecting commissions from various other bears. They have said a jumper will protect them from cold and dust. Grace ( bear queen of the fashion stakes)has been unusually quiet. She has more than enough jumpers but I can see that this might not last much longer.
